Saturday 7th June 2014
Aircraft to fly at Folkestone Airshow 2014 are to be released as they are confirmed.
Folkestone Airshow will not only feature amazing flying displays, but The Leas will have an outdoor shopping area, packed with arts, crafts, jewellery, gifts, local produce and stands from local traders. Our outdoor shopping area will be a great place to pick up souvenirs to take home, and an excellent opportunity to showcase the local businesses we have in Folkestone and the surrounding areas.
Selection of Food and Drink
Visitors to Folkestone Airshow 2014 will be spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drinks. We have contracted our food and drinks traders out, and will have a variety of different cuisines and local ales and other drinks to try. We will be checking all our prices beforehand, and on the day, to ensure great value for money from all our traders.
Our beer tents will be serving local ales and beers, and we will have a special guest taking pride of place on The Leas; The Official Spitfire Bus – serving Kent-brewed Spitfire ale.
Armed Forces Village
Our amazing Armed Forces will have an Armed Forces Village on The Leas, for the duration of the weekend, where they will showcase their skills in the Display Arena, offer opportunities for people to get information on joining or sign up and meet some of the brave people who defend our country.
A small percentage of the money raised from the sale of merchandise and programmes will be donated to The RAF Benevolent Fund which exists to support the families of former and serving members of the RAF.
The world-famous Red Arrows display team will also have a stand in the Armed Forces Village, where you can buy merchandise and meet the pilots who perform the amazing Red Arrows diamond-nine display, which you will see on the weekend.
As we are working closely with the Marine Cadets, Sea Cadets, Air Cadets and Army Cadets, this area will also be a great opportunity for younger members of the Armed Forces them to display their abilities, encourage other young people to join their squadrons; learning many invaluable skills and having fun working with other young people.
Our flight simulators, located on both levels of The Leas will give our visitors a chance to see what it is like to be the pilot, and to fly an aircraft. After watching the spectacular feats the pilots will perform at Folkestone Airshow, take your seat inside a flight simulator and get a feel for flying yourself.
During the weekend there will be plenty of activities to keep children and adults, alike, amused. There will be a number of fun zones, with kids’ entertainment, from Ferris Wheels to circus skills, face painting to bouncy castles. Both the upper and lower Leas will feature fun zones, and there will be entertainers walking around the event.
Classic Car Show
For motoring fanatics, part of the upper level of The Leas will become a classic car show. See the cars, talk to the owners and buy car and motorbike merchandise. Folkestone Airshow is a community event, and there really is something for everyone.
2 Community Stages
As a community event, we want to showcase the amazing talent we have here in Folkestone, and give our visitors something they should definitely return for after Folkestone Airshow. We will have 2 community stages, for the duration of the weekend; one on the seafront on the Lower Leas, and the historical Bandstand on the Upper Leas. These stages will be used to give our bands, choirs, performers and musicians a chance to perform for the crowds for free and show our guests just how much musical ability we have in our local community.
